Rhodes junior Tara Daniel has been invited to attend the Helping America′s Youth Regional Conference to be held in Nashville, Tenn., April 11-12. First Lady Laura Bush leads the Helping America′s Youth Initiative which is a nationwide effort to raise awareness about the challenges facing youth and to motivate caring adults to connect with youth in three key areas -- family, school and community.

Participation in the Helping America’s Youth Regional Conference is by invitation only. The BACCHUS Network, which focuses on comprehensive health and safety initiatives, nominated Daniel to attend the conference.  She is a member of its Student Advisory Committee and will represent BACCHUS on youth safety issues. Her work with BACCHUS began through her involvement with Rhodes’ BACCHUS affiliate, the Coalition Helping Educate and Empower Youth (CHEERS).

The two-day conference includes panel discussions, community coalition training, and a speaker series.  Daniel will work with the National Organizations for Youth Safety Leadership Chapter to focus on disseminating the information from the conference to its affiliates.

Daniel is a native of Clarksville, Tenn., and a graduate of Rossview High School. She is the daughter of Dean and Michie Daniel, also of Clarksville.
