A Perfect Fit. That’s what the green icing spelled out on the white sheet cake in the Central High School library on January 31. The cake was in celebration of the Rhodes College and Central High School partnership. “This is to make official what already has been working,” commented Miska Bibbs, Memphis City Schools Adopt-A-School Coordinator, at the signing of the partnership agreement. She added the partnership aligns with the MCS mantra “Every Child. Every Day. College Bound.”

In her remarks, Dr. Suzanne Bonefas, director of special projects at Rhodes, emphasized that the partnership is mutually beneficial and Rhodes looks forward to involving Central students and faculty on the Rhodes campus. The signing of the agreement also included Dr. Russell Wigginton, vice-president for college relations at Rhodes; Greg McCullough, principal at Central; Anne Suitor, Instructional Facilitator; and Dustin Fulton, Central’s Student Council President.

Representatives of the various student groups welcomed Rhodes to the Central family  and entertainment was provided by the school’s jazz band led by Shawn Sullivan. Representatives of Central’s other adopters, Smith & Nephew and Methodist Hospital, were present as well as Belinda Anderson of the Parent Teacher Student Association.
