Farrell Named SCAC Player of the Week

Ashley Farrell of Rhodes College, a 5-8 junior guard from Collierville, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC Women′s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played December 11-17.

Farrell had another strong week as the Lynx swept non-conference road games and won their fourth consecutive game to improve to 7-3 for the season.

Against LaGrange, Farrell led all scorers with 21 points, pulled down eight rebounds, had four steals and recorded three blocks as Rhodes won 75-61. In the team′s 61-51 win over Huntingdon, Farrell scored 11 points, pulled down seven rebounds, had a career-high eight steals and recorded two blocks.  For the weekend, Farrell averaged a stat-sheet filling 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game.

Farrell is currently fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 17.4 points per game. She also leads the SCAC in steals (3.80 per game) and is seventh in assists (3.0 per game) and sixth in blocked shots (0.80 per game).

One of the league′s most accurate shooters, Farrell is currently 10th in the SCAC in field goal percentage (51.4%), ninth in free-throw percentage (79.7%) and seventh in three-point field goal percentage (44.8%).
