The Mayor′s Office

OneMemphis Project

One Memphis is a bipartisan service initiative from the office of Mayor AC Wharton aimed at improving and cultivating a spirit of volunteerism among Memphians. Our interest areas include cleaning and greening, youth wellness and senior services. We work with 5 local partner organizations to promote and support their work in the community. As a resource for non-profits and volunteers alike, One Memphis hopes to act as a liaison and a connector, linking organizations with well-suited volunteers. One Memphis has especially worked to engage local students involved in service through strategic relationships with area colleges and universities. Rhodes College funds the "Cities of Service Fellowship" which allows one Rhodes student to fully dedicate a year′s time to One Memphis, learning about city government, working with non-profits and building relationships with community builders, while taking ownership over a position that is beneficial to the community at large.
