REP: Refugee Empowerment Program

R.E.P. is an after school tutoring program designed to assist and motivate refugee students in Memphis to do better in school. These refugees are from all over the world and some face difficult cultural/language barriers that prevent them from being able to excel academically. As volunteer tutors, it is volunteers’ job to help these students become more comfortable with the academic curriculum and excel in the Memphis school system.

"Volunteering at REP has been very rewarding for me.  Sometimes I feel like I benefit more from going than the students because with every visit I learn so much from the children.  It is so inspiring to see how hard they work despite the difficulties they face which makes me want to support them even more." -- Rabab Iqbal, 2015
