Becky Atnip, a senior guard on the women′s basketball team, has been recognized as the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending November 29.

Not only has Atnip been a solid leader for the Lynx on the court, she also has gone out of her way to volunteer around the city of Memphis.

After coming to Rhodes as a pre-med major, the Greenfield, Tenn., native changed her course focus to religious studies. During her sophomore year, she volunteered at the Memphis Zoo cleaning stalls and feeding animals. As a MIFA volunteer, she also delivered meals through its Meals on Wheels program.

During her junior year, Atnip volunteered at a local barn working with horses. She has worked the past two summers at the Rainbow Trout Ranch in Colorado.

“Always a positive influence on everyone that she comes into contact with, Atnip is the epitome of class and character,” says Head Women’s Basketball Coach Matt Dean.
