Effie Du
My name is Effie Du, and I am a sophomore from China. I am a Business & Economics major and Math minor. Last year was my first year in the US, and I had a great experience. Last year, I met a lot of people when working as the business manager of the Sou’wester (Rhodes students’ newspaper) and learned how to be an effective leader in Envision (a five week leadership program). Though this is just the beginning of my sophomore year, a lot of fantastic things have already happened. The most exciting one is that I ended up in one of the three Rhodes intercollegiate Mock Trial teams. I enjoyed my Mock Trial experience at Rhodes very much and realized how strong the power of a team can be. Rhodes provides students with a ton of opportunities to develop their potential abilities, which is one of the reasons I love Rhodes. Please be brave enough to seize these opportunities, even though they can seem challenging at first.
