Program Basics
Course Title: Theatre 316, Theatre and Religion in India
Course Description: Theatre in India has three primary objectives. First, to attend performances at the National School of Drama’s Summer Theatre Festival, so as to see up close both contemporary theatre in India and an important institution of theatre training in India. Second, to study the intersection of religion and theatrical performance in India. Third, to see areas of historic and religious importance to different communities in northern India. Students will reside in Delhi near the National School of Drama. The program will travel to sites including the Taj Mahal and other Mughal sites in Agra, several Rajput sites in Jaipur, and the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
