Rhodes Alumna Wins Justice Sandra Day O′Connor Scholarship

Diana Comes ’08 has been named recipient of the National Association of Women Judges′ Justice Sandra Day O′Connor Scholarship.
The scholarship will be presented to Comes today (October 15) at the NAWJ′s annual conference luncheon at the Peabody Hotel, where Justice O′Connor is the keynote speaker.
Comes currently is in her second year at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. She was an English major at Rhodes and says about her undergraduate experience, “I was encouraged to take advantage of innumerable academic opportunities--for example, my senior honors project with Dr. Leslie Petty and my writing fellowship with Dr. Rebecca Finlayson. Rhodes and the English Department inspire students to think, to learn, and to grow.”
At Rhodes, Comes also demonstrated a commitment to women′s issues and helped establish the Women′s Center.
