Rhodes Among Teach For America′s Top Contributors

Rhodes is a top contributor to Teach For America among small colleges and universities (2,999 or fewer undergrads).

This fall, the following 2009 Rhodes graduates will begin teaching as part of the corps: Stephanie Aughinbaugh, Elizabeth Darling, Kaitlyn Fleck, Stephenie Johnson, Shannon King, Emily Munro, Lars Nelson, Marianne Olson, Jenny Phillips and Elizabeth Wright.

The 2009 corps earned an average GPA of 3.6, and 89 percent held leadership positions as undergraduates. Teachers commit at least two years in urban and rural public schools.

Wendy Kopp, president and founder of Teach For America, holds an Honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Rhodes. Teach For America established its Memphis region in 2006 and chose Rhodes College as its training site.
