Consulting Experience in Egypt

Program Basics

Course Title: Econ/Bus 481: Consulting Experience in Cairo, Egypt

Course Description: Students will apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired in economics and business courses to two small businesses that each employ approximately 100 workers in two retail shops and a set of workshops.  Students will be expected to make a formal consulting report to the business owners at the end of the program.  Access will be granted to company documents and operations and meetings will be held with the business owners.  The local culture will have an enormous impact on the consulting experience.  Students will learn about how the culture developed through visits to the pyramids, museums, churches and native markets.  We will sample the local culture at the Red Sea, in the theater (Dervish show) and by talking with development experts, film stars and dancers.
