Rhodes Students Present Research at Local Chemistry Conference

Five Rhodes students recently presented at the 29th Annual Undergraduate Research Conference at The University of Memphis. The conference was hosted by the school′s Department of Chemistry.

Chassidy Groover ’10, Laura Johnson ’10, Caroline Lee ’11, Michelle Shroyer ’11, and Hunter Utkov ’10 all presented their individual research in 15 minute talks, which consisted of a presentation and a question and answer session.
Johnson won one of the five awards given to student presenters. The awards are funded by Schering-Plough HealthCare Products, Inc.

Rhodes chemistry professors Mauricio Cafiero and Loretta Jackson-Hayes accompanied the students to the conference. Lee, Shroyer and Utkov are part of Professor Cafiero’s research group, while Groover and Johnson are part of Professor Jackson-Hayes’ research group.
