Physics Students to Host Regional Meeting
Publication Date: 2/26/2009
The Rhodes College chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) is hosting its regional meeting February 27-28. SPS will welcome chapters from “Zone 10,” which consists of schools in Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and western Tennessee.
The Zone meeting offers the opportunity for students to meet and interact with fellow students from other schools who are interested in physics. At the meeting, each chapter will have the opportunity to discuss their activities from the previous year. Students will also present their research or outreach activities through poster and oral presentations. Speakers from the Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI) and NASA will educate students about current work and student opportunities at these locations.
In 2007, Rhodes’ chapter volunteered to host the 2009 Zone Meeting. Hosting duties rotate among chapters within the Zone. This is the second time that the Rhodes College SPS chapter has hosted the Zone meeting, the previous time being in 2003.
