Student Intern On Board Supporting Common Ground

Erin Foster ’10 is featured in the Common Ground November newsletter for her work as an intern with the organization. Common Ground is an initiative designed to use small group discussions to improve race relations in Memphis. A growing number of community organizations and businesses support it including Rhodes.
The newsletter article reports that Foster supports Common Ground through numerous administrative activities from returning phone calls and emails to preparing materials for weekly sessions and compiling data for evaluation. Foster, who is from Greenville, S.C., is pursuing a dual major in urban studies and religious studies.
“It is encouraging to hear positive feedback from people who are inspired to make a difference because of their participation Common Ground,” Erin says in the article. “Daily, I am re-affirmed in my belief that one person can make a difference. The people in Memphis are open and willing to make this change.”
