The University of Aberdeen is located in Aberdeen, Scotland on the edge of the North Sea. It is about 500 miles from London, or a little over one hour by plane. Aberdeen is known as the oil capital of Europe. Since the university was founded in 1495 and has over 9,000 students, Aberdeen is also known as a university town. The University of Aberdeen provides students with a wide array of courses to choose from, however the university is primarily known as a major science center with some thirty departments or specialist units offering undergraduate courses in scientific study. Accommodations are provided in single rooms in one of the residence halls. Students may study at Aberdeen for either a semester or academic year.
