Music
IES Vienna, Austria
A fascinating city of 1.8 million people, Vienna has preserved the best of its rich history and culture, while opening itself up to the contemporary challenges it faces both as the capital of a member state of the European Union and as the most important gateway to Central and Eastern Europe. Situated on the Danube River at the edge of the majestic Austrian Alps, Vienna is also a charming city yet cosmopolitan metropolis—and its unparalleled opera houses, museums, and theaters are as famous today as they were a century ago. Mozart and Haydn once walked through Vienna′s curving streets, Beethoven and Brahms read newspapers in the city′s famous cafés, and Mahler and Bruckner conducted their own works in venues that still host concerts today.
The IES Vienna Music Program is specially designed for Music students and offers a wide-ranging and academically rigorous Music curriculum coupled with unique components such as a Music Performance Workshop. Area studies courses in a variety of disciplines are also available. Previous German language experience is not required to participate.
