Rachel Lefton

Rachel Lefton is a master’s student in the school counseling department at the University of Memphis. After graduation she plans on becoming a school counselor at the elementary or middle school level. Rachel received her bachelor’s in science degree from Eckerd College, majoring in psychology with a minor in religious studies. During high school and college, Rachel had the opportunity to personally experience studying abroad in Israel and Greece. While studying abroad, her studies focused on biblical history, Aegean and ancient Greek art and archaeology, Modern Greek, and ancient Greek mythology and religion. From these life and educational experiences, Rachel gained insight that impacted the way she thought about herself, her culture, her future, and the world. In addition, studying abroad influenced her decision to become a school counselor, as she would like to one day be able to work with and help children from various cultural backgrounds. She has been with the Buckman Center since August, advising students on all aspects of the study abroad process.
