Rhodes Alumna Claudia Kennedy Speaks at DNC

Retired Army Lt. Gen. Claudia Kennedy ’69, the first woman to achieve the rank of three-star general, was one of the speakers Wednesday evening, August 27, at the Democratic National Convention. Kennedy spoke on behalf of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama’s support of the military.

A 32-year Army veteran, Kennedy mentioned Obama’s grandmother working on a bomber assembly line during World War II and his grandfather enlisting in the military after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and then marching with Gen. George Patton’s army.
