The first day of classes at Rhodes is August 27, and the college is expecting 478 members of the Class of 2012. 

Students come from 46 states as well as Vietnam, China, Romania, United Kingdom, South Africa and Belgium. Fewer than 25 percent of Rhodes students come from Tennessee. The college also attracts high numbers of students from Texas, Louisiana, Missouri and Alabama.

Students of color make up 20 percent of the entering class, an increase of four percentage points over last year and three times as many as five years ago.

In the Class of 2012 are 16 valedictorians and 12 salutatorians.  Fifty-five percent ranked in the top 10 percent of their class.

In student leadership, 116 were captains of a varsity athletic team, 96 were president of at least one high school club; 55 were presidents/vice presidents of their student government or senior class; 30 were editors of the yearbook, school newspaper or literary magazine; and 17 were president /vice president of the National Honor Society.
