Rhodes Student Serves As Consultant for Model UN at Middle School

Ben Lyon ’09, an economics and international studies double major from Fort Smith, Ark., has been a college student consultant for American Way Middle School’s newly chartered chapter of the Model United Nations (UN). Recently, the students participated in the UN-USA Middle School Model United Nations Conference in New York.
Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and involves students in the study and discussion of international political, social, and economic issues. Skills used include research, writing, public speaking, problem solving, conflict resolution and consensus building.
At Rhodes, Lyon has been involved in the Model UN and the Rhodes Student Government.
