Rhodes senior Eddie Han will represent the United States as a volunteer at the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing, China this summer. “The application process itself took several months but was highly worthwhile,” says Han.
He will be volunteering at the USA House Business and Hospitality Center which serves as the United States Olympic Committee’s daily hospitality center for accredited sponsors, 2008 Olympic team athletes, International Olympic Committee members, and others. He also will arrive in Beijing a week prior to the start of the Olympics to assist in set-up for all of the events.
A biology major and Chinese studies minor, Han was a member of the Rhodes Swimming and Diving Team for both the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. In addition, he was named the team’s Most Valuable Player both seasons.
He currently holds schools records in the following events—100 yard freestyle; 200 yard freestyle; 100 yard backstroke; 200 yard backstroke; 200 yard individual medley; and 200 yard medley relay.
