This spring break marks the twentieth anniversary of the annual Rhodes Tex-Mex Border Ministry mission trip, during which members of the Rhodes community join with Ministero de Fe and the Presbyterian Church of Mexico to build homes and community friendships in Reynosa, Mexico.  The trip is sponsored by the Chaplain’s Office.

The Tex-Mex crew plans to build two new homes with local residents in Reynosa this year, in addition to adding a roof to a roofless house.  They will also assist a local church-based medical clinic by volunteering with patients and gathering medical supplies.

Chaplain Walt Tennyson reports that in addition to concession sales at basketball games and proceeds from Career Services’ “Test Drives,” the coffers have been generously supported by Rhodes faculty and staff.

If you would like more information on Tex-Mex, or if you would like to support the project, contact a member of the Tex-Mex Steering Committee or the Chaplain’s Office at 901-843-3849.
