Ivy Mixes Art and Social Studies

Gary, IN, fourth-grade teacher Krysten Ivy ′04 believes in using an "arts-infused" curriculum. A faculty member at East Chicago Lighthouse Charter School, a Ball State University-authorized school, Ivy got her social studies students involved in making a video about Henry Wells and William Fargo.
Ivy has been recognized twice for her students having achieved the highest math scores system-wide by the Lighthouse Academies, the nonprofit charter management organization that operates her school.
