Rhodes Hosts Model United Nations Conference

Publication Date: 1/29/2008

Rhodes will host the 27th annual Mid-South Model United Nations Conference February 1-3.  This year’s conference will focus on issues of political economy in Latin America.

More than 350 students from 10 high schools throughout the Mid-South will participate.  Current Rhodes students lead the conference by organizing the proceedings and mentoring the high school participants.

Megan Colnar ’08, an international studies and Latin American studies major from San Antonio, Texas, will serve as secretary general.  As student leaders, Colnar says that “we hope to introduce students to the complexity of singular events in international relations and the unique dynamics of Latin American countries in the global community.”

Rhodes has hosted the conference for nearly three decades.  For more on Model United Nations at Rhodes, visit http://www.rhodes.edu/academics/21522.asp.
