Rhodes CARES

The Rhodes Center for Academic Research and Education through Service combines all of the college’s major strengths—its challenging academic program, engaging undergraduate research and strong tradition of community service.

Rhodes CARES (Center for Academic Research and Education through Service), funded by a $6 million grant from the Robert and Ruby Priddy Charitable Trust, exists to strengthen undergraduate research and service tied to scholarship. The center encompasses programs such as:

• Rhodes Institute for Regional Studies: A summer research opportunity in Memphis and the Mid-South
  
• Rhodes St. Jude Summer Plus research program: An intensive research program pairing Rhodes students with St. Jude researchers
  
• Rhodes/UT Neuroscience Research Fellowship: An intensive research program pairing Rhodes students with UT Neuroscience researchers.
  
• Rhodes/UT Neurosurgery Research Fellowship: An intensive reserach program pairing Rhodes students with UT Neurosurgery researchers.
  
• Summer Service Fellowship: A nine week summer program that offers Rhodes students the opportunity to tackle a significant community project
  
• Bonner Scholars Program: A program that supports the development of leadership and service within a liberal arts education
  
• Rhodes Learning Corridor: An initiative to develop collaborative relationships for improved science teaching and learning in Memphis City Schools
  
• InMotion Musculoskeletal Research Fellowship: The InMotion Musculoskeletal Institute is a nonprofit orthopaedic laboratory located in the Memphis Medical Center District.InMotion is currently offering one research fellowship for a Rhodes College undergraduate.
  
• Rhodes Student Travel Funds: Rhodes has a limited fund to facilitate student ravel to present research or creative activity at professional meetings. Click the link for policies and procedures.
