Publication Date: 11/21/2007
Rhodes College senior Tara Daniel has been selected as one of two 2007-2008 Student Trustees to serve on the Board of Trustees for the BACCHUS Network, a national non-profit organization which focuses on comprehensive health and safety initiatives for college students.
As a student trustee, Daniel will work to provide leadership to the twelve members of the student advisory committee as well as serve as an active member of the board. The board comprises leaders in higher education, business executives, and various health and safety professionals.
“My involvement with peer education and the BACCHUS Network has inspired and challenged me, and I am honored to have the chance to share my ideas in serving as student trustee,” says Daniel.
At Rhodes, Daniel is a biology major and president of CHEERS (Coalition Helping Educate and Empower Rhodes Students), the college’s BACCHUS affiliate. Members of CHEERS encourage students to make healthy decisions, and in January the organization will sponsor programming focusing on mental health awareness.
Daniel is a native of Clarksville, Tenn., and a graduate of Rossview High School. She is the daughter of Dean and Michie Daniel, also of Clarksville.
