Tracy Patterson ’84
When Tracy Vezina Patterson visited Rhodes she knew immediately that she had found her college home. "Rhodes offered everything I was looking for—a college small enough to allow me to really know my professors and classmates, but large enough to experience a wide variety of academic opportunities and extracurricular activities," she says. As a student, Tracy majored in International Studies and was editor-in-chief of The Sou’wester, the student newspaper. She was also a member of a sorority and served as Publications Commissioner on the Rhodes Student Government.
After graduation, Tracy worked in Washington, D.C., for five years in the non-profit sector. She returned to Memphis in 1990 and served as the Director of Financial Development for the YWCA of Greater Memphis. In 1995, Tracy received her degree of juris doctor from the University of Memphis and worked as in-house counsel for Sedgwick Inc., an international insurance broker.
Tracy returned to Rhodes in June 2006 after spending seven years as a “stay-at-home mom.” In her current responsibilities, Tracy works with Rhodes alumni, parents and friends of the college living in Memphis, Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Nevada, Arizona, California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska and Hawaii.
"Rhodes was a formative experience for me and I enjoy sharing my common experiences with fellow alumni," explains Tracy. "No matter when we graduated, we all enjoyed our beautiful campus, shared the values of the Honor Code and benefited from professors and faculty who served as mentors and role models."
Tracy is married to Scott Patterson, member of the Rhodes Class of ’85. They have three brilliant children, a dog and a cat, and enjoy annual family trips to Navarre Beach, Florida. In her “free time,” Tracy serves on the Board of Directors of Special Kids & Families, Inc., and as Vice President of East Memphis Civitan. She is an alumni advisor to Kappa Delta Sorority and Class Reporter for the Class of ’84.
