John Thatcher
Originally from Mason, Ohio, John Thatcher accepted a percussion scholarship to attend the University of Memphis. "Music was always a large part of my life," John explains, "and I was very excited when the opportunity to move to a city like Memphis presented itself." While at the University of Memphis, John was a member of the Drumline for the Mighty Sound of the South Marching Band and University Concert Band. During college he spent his summers touring the country and performing as a member of The Americanos Drum and Bugle Corps in Appleton, Wisconsin.
After graduating with a BBA in Management and a Minor in Nonprofit Management, John began his career in the nonprofit sector. “I fell in love with the culture of Memphis as a student and then was blessed to witness the generosity and compassion of the citizens of our city,” he says.
Having recently completed an MBA from Christian Brothers University, John came to Rhodes in February of 2007. His territory includes: Connecticut, Florida (except for Pensacola), Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin and the city of Memphis.
John lives in Oakland, Tennessee, with his wife Elle, a high school Spanish teacher. Music still plays a large role in his life, as he works as a part-time high school percussion instructor in his spare time.
